Rhett & Link's lack of knowledge about DnD infuriates me

  • Reply SignoftheMagi February 9, 2020 at 6:36 am

D&D is such a versatile, creative game that it would be fun to see them take a shot at it.

  • Reply LevDevi February 9, 2020 at 8:24 am

With a fun DM, anything is possible

  • Reply Manuel Colazo February 9, 2020 at 9:04 am

  • Reply Da Vinci February 9, 2020 at 10:32 am

As a fan of both Joe Manganiello and Marilyn Manson I now want to see the game happen. At least a 1 shot Joe I'm counting on you.

  • Reply Weedle Enthusiast February 10, 2020 at 4:47 am

The real monsters here are from 5e, which I know from the artwork they used. Only the first one was in the original monster manual, as opposed to Volo's or Mordekainen's, so it isn't super suprising that a DM may not know them

  • Reply CyberVic February 10, 2020 at 5:31 am

Joe, I can give you some slack on the Vegipigmi, but you didnt know about Flail Snails?

  • Reply Ben Porter February 10, 2020 at 9:37 am

It would be super cool if Matthew Mercer would host a game for those two

  • Reply Sasafras February 10, 2020 at 11:23 am

Honestly don't know how he didn't know Flail Snails were a thing. It's in the TOA module

I got them all, what do I win? :O

  • Reply Mark Matthews February 10, 2020 at 5:42 pm

The thing about D&D, is that now that the 'fake' monsters were thought up, they are ALL real for D&D.

  • Reply Tristan Strain February 10, 2020 at 5:59 pm

    Got it 100%, baybeeee. I didn't even think I was that knowledgeable~
Closest one for me was the cacophonous mouths or w/e, but I figured that was the Gibbering Maw that I was thinking of.

  • Reply Glimare February 10, 2020 at 6:15 pm

… what's with the hobo look?

  • Reply armando arevalo February 10, 2020 at 8:40 pm

WHOA!!! Joe is 6'5 why do Rhett and Link look so much taller than him… how… how tall are you guys

  • Reply Kyu Hee February 10, 2020 at 10:05 pm

    Fartlek = speedgame, Fart=speed, lek=game in swedish.

  • Reply ashtonthemelon February 10, 2020 at 10:39 pm

My impression of Fartliking was essentially maintaining a set pace, typically your best pace, and increasing that just short of a sprint until you hit a identified marker (like a stop sign or something) then returning back to your base pace. So, rather than incorporating walk and sprints to increase your speed, you are just training your overall endurance whilst also slowly increasing your pace speed. Worked wonders for me prior to enlisting.

  • Reply Ida February 10, 2020 at 11:36 pm

PLEASE play DnD on an episode!

  • Reply Kendallonian February 10, 2020 at 11:36 pm

Water weirds aren't chaotic evil! Their alignment depends on the water source they were summoned into, if it's corrupt, they're evil. If it's pure, they're good. And they're certainly not chaotic, they're lawful; they defend the water source they're summoned into by the will of their summoner.

I read the Monster Manual for fun sometimes.

  • Reply Longstreet 01 February 11, 2020 at 12:14 am

I guess Joe M has not read all the source books so far !! Being a DM he ought to know Flail Snail and Vegepygmy……..or should he ?

  • Reply Kevin Myerson February 11, 2020 at 12:43 am

Man. Joe must have never played dungeon of the mad mage.

  • Reply Daniel Cox February 11, 2020 at 1:00 am

Cacophonous wretch, wasn't a monster, but it sure is now.

  • Reply Flare Fox February 11, 2020 at 1:55 am

A flying Zombie head that will try to kiss you, should it be succesfull you will after a short amount of time turn into one unless you're cured.

  • Reply Derrek Gillespie February 11, 2020 at 12:53 pm

Can we kickstart a book of these? A lot of the fake ones were actually very good. I'd love to put stats to those

  • Reply sushles February 11, 2020 at 12:56 pm

    Fart is Swedish for speed…

  • Reply Cloud Seeker February 11, 2020 at 1:06 pm

Fartlek is Swedish. It is made up from two words. Fart which is translated to Speed, and Lek that is translated to Play or Game. So Fartlek is translated more correctly to Speedplay or Speedgame.

  • Reply Arngeir February 11, 2020 at 2:10 pm

Anyone else think this was super easy?

  • Reply Mike B February 11, 2020 at 2:26 pm

    3 ta 7

  • Reply SilencedHero February 11, 2020 at 2:31 pm

Yeah I work for wizards of the coast and play dnd all the time. Flail snail can’t be a real creature. Bro have you looked in the monster manual?

  • Reply Andras Petersen February 11, 2020 at 5:35 pm

I assume Fartlek comes from the Fart meaning speed and lek meaning game, so fartlek means speed game.

  • Reply н е б о л а ј а February 11, 2020 at 7:04 pm

there is no FALSE creatures in DND xD

  • Reply Grant Kress February 11, 2020 at 8:11 pm

The real ones were all relatively commonly known monsters from 5E

  • Reply charles galkamax February 11, 2020 at 8:29 pm

If it meant seeing Rhett and Link play DnD (especially if Link played Link but a bard), I would totally write and run that!

How has Joe never heard of a flail snail? They are iconic

  • Reply maxjohnson15 February 11, 2020 at 9:58 pm

Unbearded Joe is still surprisingly handsome

  • Reply Alex Mann February 11, 2020 at 10:57 pm

Joe sure is bad at this for someone who works for WotC and runs such an elite DnD group. I'd much rather have an official flail snail miniature than his dragonborn and tortle characters

  • Reply spiritualinsight February 11, 2020 at 11:00 pm

    No recaps bummer

  • Reply Rivers RPG Channel February 11, 2020 at 11:01 pm

I think I beat Joe on the questions

  • Reply RedwoodTheElf February 11, 2020 at 11:22 pm

The Vegepygmies come from a module called "Expedition to the Barrier Peaks" which involves exploring a buried SPACESHIP. A very weird adventure.

  • Reply Ahzek Ahriman February 12, 2020 at 12:27 am

If it wasn't, it's real now.

  • Reply Withraas February 12, 2020 at 2:22 am

Pathetic Joe. As an ambassador you fail. Flail Snail was 101. Vegepygmy was 096

  • Reply Banjoslave February 12, 2020 at 2:36 am

Fartlek, two words; 'fart' and 'lek', translated from Norwegian, speed game/play.

  • Reply Durdle Ders February 12, 2020 at 2:49 am

    R & L

  • Reply Kyle Gimple February 12, 2020 at 3:34 am

If you count 3rd party stuff for 3.5 and 3.p, I'd bet all of these have been published at some point.

  • Reply Colby Bailey February 12, 2020 at 3:48 am

    It is Far tlec

  • Reply SL Salmon February 12, 2020 at 4:48 am

In fartleks all the runners on the team run in a single file line and every few seconds the person at the end of the line sprints to the front and becomes the new leader. I speak from experience and now my tongue is permanently fart colored. 🙁
